Tiger baseball completes sweep of Hug



Tyler May picked up his second win in a week and Nate Whalin picked up his second win of the season as the Douglas baseball team held Hug to one hit in each game of a doubleheader sweep with the Tigers taking two twin 10-0 victories in Reno Saturday.

Whalin struck out six and walked one to improve to 2-1 on the year and hit his fourth home run of the season to help his own effort in the first game of the day.


Ryan Pruitt and Willie Morgan each went 2-for-2 in the win with Pruitt driving in two runs and Morgan driving in one. Morgan doubled and tripled and Niko Saladis drove in a team-leading three runs.

Jordan Hadlock, Morgan and Severin Nobriga each had one RBI.


In the second game, May struck out six and walked one in four innings of work to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Morgan led the way for the Tigers, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Saladis knocked in two more runs on two hits and Cory Eilers doubled and drove in a run.


Jeff White went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tim Rudnick drove in two runs while Beau Davis had Douglas' only other RBI on the day. Brandon Bernard collected a hit as well.


Douglas improved to 9-3 overall and 6-0 in league play heading into this week's crucial league match-up with Reno. The Tigers host the Huskies at 3:30 p.m. today.
