Connie Wennholda star to steer by

Connie Wennhold was a vibrant member of this community, an energetic leader at home and in public, a shining example for the rest of us.

The previous Monday she was at the Legislature working for children. On Tuesday she attended the Douglas County School Board meeting as vice president. No one who was with her on either of those occasions anticipated that would be the last time they would see her.

Connie Wennhold died the afternoon of Wednesday, March 14. She had lived in Carson Valley for 28 of her 50 years.

As a wife and a mother she raised two boys, Adam and Aaron. Adam is going to college to become a firefighter, Aaron is an Eagle Scout attending Douglas High School.

As a member of her community, she was a leader on the Douglas County School Board, having served as president and vice president. She was chairwoman of the Partnership of Community Resources and a committee chair for Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 495.

Active in Carson Valley United Methodist Church, she formed the Moms In Touch Support group to pray for students, teachers and members of the district's administration.

As the person who opened Bouquet & Bouquet and a floral designer, she regularly brought beauty into people's lives on special occasions.

As a scrapbooker she shared her skill with others and helped them preserve important personal memories.

Connie Wennhold made life in Carson Valley better for all of us. She will be dearly missed.
