Tumbleweeds gymnastics squads headed for state

The Gardnerville Tumbleweeds competitive gymnastics teams have completed their most successful season since begin competition several years ago.

The boys' and girls' teams made it to the medals podium in every meet this season with Sterling Freeman and Baylee Robinson often taking first-place finishes in the all-around.

"They all did such a phenomenal job," Tumbleweeds coach Shamra Petrosky said. "They love what they do and it shows.

"They are some of the hardest working athletes that you'll ever see."

The state finals are in Reno where the boys will compete Saturday and the girls from March 24 and 25.

If the level 5 boys make it in the top eight, they will qualify for regionals in Hawaii.

The boys team level 4 athletes are Keaton Peters, Cole Petrosky and Brandon Basche. The level 5 competitors are Mason Parodi and Sterling Freeman.

The girls level 4 athletes are Talyn Jackson, Maya Krug and Lauren Hoffman. The level 5 athletes are Baylee Robinson, Katarina Vondrudska, Aryana Petrosky and Samantha Campos. The Tumbleweeds also have a level 6 athlete in Cori Craig.
