Puttin' On The Ritz benefits Family Support Council

Each year Douglas County experiences hundreds of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault incidents.

The Family Support Council, a non-profit agency, is the primary resource the county has to assist families in these critical times of need. The council runs the only 24-hour crisis line for anyone who needs assistance and a shelter for domestic violence victims in Carson Valley. Other services include crisis intervention counseling, a women's support group, parenting skills and education courses, family stress management courses and a variety of programs for families with young children.

The council is now planning its annual Puttin' On The Ritz fundraiser, which will be held 6-10 p.m. on March 24 at Genoa Lakes Golf Club. Tickets are $75, and this was a sold out event last year. There will be live and silent auctions during the evening as well as dinner and dancing. Bill McClain will once again be the master of ceremonies and auctioneer.

The agency will be acknowledging one business and one individual who have supported FSC's efforts over the past year. Joyce's Jewelry has donated a diamond to be presented to one person in attendance the evening of the event.
