-- Sherry Negrete, branch manager for Sierra Coast Mortgage Co., Inc., and co-owner, along with Red Walkley, are responsible for the restoration of our little red A-frame building at Arden Square, the new strip mall at the corner of Highway 208 and Albite.

"We named it Arden Square in honor of the Arden family who used to own the property and were responsible for so much of the development of our community," Negrete said.

Negrete is looking for history and old photographs of Topaz Ranch Estates. Anyone with old pictures of TRE or the original Highway 208 before it was re-aligned and it became Granite Way, should contact Negrete. Also, anyone knowing who some of the original residents were and if any of them are still here in the area, you can help Sherry put together a history of our area. Contact Negrete at 782-8622 or call Jonni Hill at 782-5121.

-- Topaz resident, Katy Kolbe, who recently made local news with her participation on "The Price is Right," is offering personal fitness training at the Topaz Ranch Estates Park building at the end of Carter Way 1-3 p.m. every Sunday.

Kolbe, a 2001 graduate of Douglas High School is also a graduate of the Scottsdale Culinary School.

"I work with a lot of different people," Kolbe said, "dancers, athletes, or just regular people who want to get on a good fitness program. I am just your aide to help you along the way."

Kolbe has five people attending her program and the cost is $44 a session which helps cover the cost of renting the park building.

"If I can get a few more people to participate I can manage to drop the cost to probably $35 a session," she said.

For more information about the Sunday fitness program contact Kolbe at 266-9475.

Until next week, keep on keepin' on.
