Forecast calls for homecoming

Staff Reports

When a Stars and Stripes reporter Kevin Dougherty wanted to know what the weather was like in Kandahar, Afghanistan, back in 2005, he turned to U.S. Air Force meteorologist Staff Sgt. Wes Brogan.

Brogan, a 1995 Douglas High School graduate, will be back home in Gardnerville on Friday and his family is hosting a party on Saturday for him to see his friends.

Brogan's mother, Terry Brogan-Brown, said the gathering will be 7 p.m. in the Dublin Room at the Carson Valley Inn.

"It's a surprise party for him," she said. "All his friends are invited to come by and see him."

Brogan joined the Air Force in 2000 and is a meteorologist/ weather forecaster.

He received his associate's degree in meteorology while in the service and is working on his bachelor's degree in business management, according to Brogan-Brown.

His mother said he re-enlisted for another four years while in Iraq. He was recently honored as the non-commissioned officer of the year for 2006-07.
