GE employees spruce up Ranchos elementary school

Staff Reports

More than 60 GE Energy employees, along with their family and friends spent Saturday working on Scarselli Elementary School.

"We're thrilled to be able to partner with Principal Brandon Swain, his staff and the parent-teacher organization during GE's Global Community Days and do what we can to give this school a facelift as it prepares to celebrate 20 years serving the children here in our community," said Jeff Schnitzer, business leader at GE Energy's Minden facility.

Scarselli was awarded a $4,000 grant through GE Foundation's Share the Gold program to provide final improvements to the school's sound system.

This event is one of the many efforts taking place as part of GE's fourth annual Global Community Days.

An anticipated 20,000 GE employees and retirees from around the world will participate in service projects that cover a variety of local issues including education, community development and the environment.

Crossing six continents and all of GE businesses, hundreds of community service projects will serve people in need.

"By our estimates, GE provided us 400Ð600 man hours of labor and improvements that would take the staff of three here nearly to two months to complete. They did everything in one day," said Hayward Allsip, who is responsible for the maintenance at Scarselli.
