Coleville returns to normal as fire fight continues

Students are back in school in Coleville and Highway 395 is open to traffic, though fire engines and other equipment are jamming the road.

According to the latest update from the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch, a line has been cut half way around the Larson fire, which rekindled on Tuesday and threatened the tiny Sierra town.

According to Fire Information Officer Franklin Pemberton, four miles of line remain to be built around the 1,080-acre fire.

Firefighters from the East Fork Fire District, Mono County, and a variety of other organizations made up the 607 people fighting the fire.

All evacuations were lifted on Wednesday. Power has been restored, but work on the phones is still ongoing.
