The R-C Morning Report

OK, Carson Valley, time to comb our hair and put on our best shirts, because it's picture day. Take a picture of your friends, family, or people just doing things that reflect a day in the life of the Carson Valley and send them to Shannon Litz at slitz@recordcourier.com or bring them by our offices at 1503 Highway 395 Suite G, Gardnerville. We'll run a big stack of them in the next edition of the Carson Valley Almanac.

It's windy this morning and it will keep getting windier, thanks to a big cold front rolling through the area. The 5-15 mph winds we've got now will increase to 15-30 mph by noon, with gusts along the Valley floor of between 40-45 mph hitting about mid-morning. Genoans should expect winds of up to 60 mph during the day. So our pictures can be of livestock blowing past. There's also a red flag fire warning in effect through 10 p.m.

With the winds up so high, every road will be Washoe Valley today, so be careful driving in high profile vehicles. Meanwhile, there is a high wind advisory in Washoe Valley today. There's moisture cresting the Sierra this morning, but it's getting shredded over the mountains, so don't expect much on this side of the hill.

Two meetings tonight to talk about. The Indian Hills General Improvement District is meeting in their room at 6 p.m. and Genoa is having a workshop tonight to her what townspeople think of the new management arrangement with the county. That agenda is in my other pants, so I'll have to post the time later.
