Coleville fire victim identified

The victim of a Jan. 6 fire in Coleville was identified Monday as Robert Hogan, 64.

Mono County Lt. Ralph Obenberger said Hogan, who was confined to a wheelchair, died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The fire was accidental and apparently started by a portable floor heater.

Obenberger said Hogan's blood-alcohol content was .192, more than twice the legal limit of .08.

Hogan and two cats were found dead Jan. 6 by an acquaintance who had come to check on the victim at his apartment at 111542 Highway 395, No. 3.

The neighbor noticed scorch marks on the door to the apartment and found Hogan's body inside.

Officials said he had tried to escape the fire.
