JV/Frosh Roundup: Douglas boys run past Galena

The Douglas boys' freshman basketball team is making its lone loss of the year look more and more like an anomaly.

The Tigers avenged that loss for the second time Thursday, beating up on Galena 60-36.

"We were flat in the first half, but we really stepped it up in the second half and had a good game defensively," Douglas coach J.P. Albert said.

Douglas built a 30-21 halftime lead and took off with a 17-5 run to open the third quarter.

"Everyone got to play and everyone played well defensively," Albert said. "Our play in transition was also very good."

Albert specifically pointed out the play of Stanley Running Wolf and Danny King during the game and said Beau Battista did a solid job of running the offense in the second half.

C.J. Marcotte led the team with 14 points and Michael Whalin and Luis Pina were solid all-around.

Brett Hartley, Colton Dale, Ryan Moglich and Brett Anderson were also instrumental in the win.

Defensively, Douglas held Galena's highest scorer to just eight points.

The Tigers are now 10-1 on the year and will host Reno Friday night.
