A mudslide has closed Highway 50 from Pollock Pines to Meyers, effectively cutting the Tahoe Basin off from its most direct route to California. CalTrans is encouraging motorists to find another route through the Sierra. Both 88 and 80 are open, but chains are mandatory.

Chains or snow tires are required pretty much all around the Lake.

Our big storm lost it in the second act, but also didn't do much to melt off the snow already on the ground. The radar shows the bulk of what's happening precipitation wise to be falling around Reno, so watch out during the commute. The National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of snow in the Valley today. By Sunday, the high will be back up to 58 degrees.

The Douglas County Building Industry Association's Annual Forecast is tonight at 6 p.m. Speakers include Harold Willard who is seeking support for his Drug Use is Life Abuse campaign and a debate on growth. The forecast will be held at the Carson Valley Inn.
