Self-check machine installed at library

In 2006, the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation donated $10,000 to cover half the cost of an Apex XpressCheck self-check machine at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden. This machine provides approximately 36 hours per week of service to library patrons, essentially the services of one full-time staff person. The Smallwood Foundation completely funded the library's first self-check machine which was retired in 2005.

Apex XpressCheckô is a third generation, self-service system that includes a touch screen monitor, a receipt printer, and an easy-to-use barcode scanner to make it simple for library users of all ages. It combines speed, usability, and confidentiality, with multiple languages options. The public's ability to check out without assistance helps to streamline library services.

For more information come to the library at 1625 Library Lane or call 782-9841.
