Lots of ag, not so many eagles

The eagles weren't biting this morning as the first day of the annual Eagles and Ag Tour started. However, participants got a chance to tour the Valley and hear about agriculture from some of its longest practicioners. Rancher Clarence Burr said he saw some eagles early soaring at about 8,000 feet, but that they turned and headed north. Burr agreed that breezy conditions may have discouraged some of the birds. On Friday, there is a reception featuring Dr. Allen Fish of the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory. Dr. Fish is bringing a European goshawk. The tours continue on Saturday with a bus ride and buffet lunch.
