Valley Vibrations

So now we're really rockin'. This week's Valley Vibrations features the blues, rock 'n' roll, country western, d-d-d disco and everything in between. There's even a human juke box, whatever that is, but you won't know until you've gone to see him.

Blues in Markleeville


Live music by Wesley Orsolic from Lake Tahoe, a member of the band "Raw Nature," will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday at Wolf Creek Restaurant & Cutthroat Saloon in Markleeville. "That man can really pick the blues," said bartenders David Mitchner, Danea McAvoy and Colleen Pearson. For more information, call (530) 694-2150.




Classic sounds at Sharkey's

Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Horseshoe Bar at Sharkey's Casino classic rock 'n' roll with a western flair will be featured, by Robin Turley. Turley is a well-known artist from Western Nevada who has spent a good portion of his life traveling the world and entertaining. "We welcome him back to Sharkey's Casino. This last weekend appearance at Sharkey's marks a new chapter, because Robin first entertained at Sharkey in 1977." The legend continues at Sharkey's, 1440 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Crimson Collar and more at Buckaroos


-- Friday, 8 p.m. to midnight, Crimson Collar, a country-western-country rock four-piece band from Reno will perform at Buckaroos Saloon.


-- Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight Ted Nagel will host karaoke.


-- Sunday, 1-5 p.m. All Hat and No Cattle with Krista Jenkins and Mike Maloney will host open mic.

Rockin' the Ranchos

Boodler's Bar and Grubshack, formerly The Stone Pony, has music planned regularly every weekend. Monday is karaoke night beginning at 8 p.m., Wednesday open mic is at 8 p.m. and on Saturday live music by Rad-Ral the "human juke box" also starts at 8 p.m.


"This is definitely the most happening nightspot in the area," said one of the owners Keith Endlich. "Come in on a Friday night to see and feel the energy."

Area 51 at CVI


Area 51, a group that plays a variety of music of the 1950s through the 1970s and beyond, will perform at the Carson Valley Inn through Sunday. Their music genres include everything from disco through classic rock to current sounds. The band is named for that otherworldly spot in the Nevada desert. Area 51 is fronted by lead singer Tracy Bing and backed by Brian Eldridge on vocals, guitar and bass; Matt Barrett on lead guitar and vocals; Steve Logan on keyboards, bass and guitar; Dusty Slabaugh on drums and vocals.


Hindsight, a Northern Nevada band, will perform Tuesday through March 4. Hindsight plays a variety of rhythm and blues, classic rock and pop music.


Cabaret Lounge live entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows starting at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. Various duos perform on Monday nights.

Boys at Backroads


The local band, Bar BQ Boys, will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight at Backroads Bar & Grill on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. Backroads Bar & Grill is at 2244 Meridian Blvd., off Airport Road. The Bar BQ Boys are a Carson Valley-based band that plays a variety of bluegrass, classic rock, blues, country and reggae music. The group formed about a year ago and includes Paul Cutunilli on mandolin and bass, Bobby Smile on guitar and dobro, Johnny Walter on stand-up bass and blues harmonica and Michael Chambon on banjo and dobro. Carson Valley Pops


The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra "Swing into Spring!" concert will be April 14 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.


The event also includes a raffle and refreshments. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Concerts are free of charge with donations appreciated.
