Tiger skiers qualify 3 for state



The Douglas girls' ski team rallied to its best team finish of the season, taking third in the standings at the Diamond Peak slalom race last Wednesday.

Douglas had four girls in the top 20 at the race with freshmen Crystal Rutledge taking 10th, Hillary Sapp finishing 11th and senior Avery Carrig and junior Jennifer Stice taking 16th and 17th respectively.


Douglas came in behind South Tahoe and North Tahoe in order and was followed but Truckee, Incline and Whittell.


Sapp, Rutledge and Carrig all qualfied for the state championships, slated for Alpine Meadows on Feb. 26 (slalom) and March 1 (giant slalom).

Rounding out the Diamond Peak race for the Tiger girls was Jenna Dykes (25th), Alicia Dreyer (27th) and Kate Neri (31st).


The boys' team took fifth behind South Tahoe, Truckee, North Tahoe and Incline in order.


Mackenzie Bennington led the way for the boys, taking 19th.

Michael Barnes took 23rd, Andrew Solomon took 25th, Kyle Neddenreip took 28th, Charlie Cross took 37th and Cody Burkhauser took 33rd.


In the junior varsity race, Cassie Parr took fifth for Douglas.
