The R-C Morning Report

Happy Valentine's Day. This morning Douglas County's Board of Equalization is holding hearings in the Historic Minden Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. The board is where people who appealed their real property tax valuation before Jan. 15 can come and plead their case. Under Nevada law, the equalization board only considers matters relating to the value of your property, not hardships in making the tax payment.

The man accused to breaking windows in a vandalism spree from Stateline through Carson to Minden will appear in East Fork Justice Court this morning facing charges of misdemeanor assault and gross misdemeanor vandalism. David Scott Killen, a 22 year-old Carson City resident, was arrested Monday afternoon after breaking out the drivers side window of a minivan while the woman was driving it. Killen is being held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

We're going to dry out for a little while with only a slight chance of precipitation today and then nothing until Sunday. Skies will be mostly sunny with the high temperature climbing to 48 degrees and then continuing to warm until it hits 61 on Saturday. The lows are pretty stable in the 20s, according to the National Weather Service. There's some light fog down along the river. The temperature is 20 degrees in Genoa and 25 in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
