Time again for pasture golf

It's that time of year again, time for the 7th annual Jackie Giorgi Cow Pasture Golf Tournament and a chance to play the most unusual golf course in America. Tee-off begins 8 a.m. April 7 at the Baldo Giorgi "cow pasture" Country Club on Topaz Lane in the Antelope Valley.

The Antelope Valley Lions Club of the Walker, Topaz and Coleville area organized this event as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Jackie Giorgi Scholarship fund to aid outstanding students from Coleville High School.

Start the day with a game of golf, skillfully dodging the "steaming divots" as you complete the course. Beer, water and sodas will be delivered to you on the course. Then sit down to a lunch of barbecued ribs, beans, potato salad, dessert and drinks for $25 or lunch only for $12. There will be raffle prizes, tickets $1 each, with the grand prize being a two-night stay at Carson Valley Inn with a food voucher.

Bring your friends and create your own foursome or you can be placed in another group that needs a partner. Irons only are allowed. Tees and balls will be furnished as you are going to need a few. It's been a long winter, so dust off those irons and come out and play our challenging golf course, You will not only be able to get in a lot of practice on your short game, but also a lot of time working in the rough. Experienced crews of cows and horses have manicured our course all winter long. Wear red or something bright as it will lessen your chance of being an unintentional target. The designated P.G.A. (pasture golf alternative) course is located on the Baldo Giorgi Ranch, take Highway 395 south from Topaz Lake, approximately 7 miles or north from Walker approximately 7 miles and turn left/right on Topaz Lane. Follow the signs or the crowd to the Baldo Giorgi "cow pasture" Country Club.

"We guarantee you will have a good time. We would not "steer" you wrong and that's no "bull," said organizers.
