Performers needed to audition



-- An information meeting will be 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville for Young Chautauquans. Students, grades 4-12, who are interested in history, drama and expanding their public speaking talents, will be accepted from private, public and home schooling programs. Group leaders are also needed to help with mentoring. Regular sessions with the youth start Jan. 22, and will continue every other week until June 10. "Chautauqua in the Park" will be June 18 and 19, where the students perform in Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa. Information, 782-2555.




-- Rehearsals for the Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, begin 7:15 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Carson High School band room, 1111 N. Saliman Road, Carson City. Rehearsals are for the Feb. 24 "Odysseys" concert with guest trombone soloist Christopher Hayes at the Carson City Community Center.

-- Auditions for Wild Horse Children's Theater production of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" start at 10 a.m. Jan. 26. Performances of the play are April 18-20 and April 25-27.

-- Carson Valley Community Theatre will hold auditions for its production of "Sounds of Broadway," an original musical review, 6-9 p.m. Jan. 16 and 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 19 at the Carson Valley Inn.


The theater company is seeking soloists, duets, dancers and musicians for the show to be presented April 4, 5 and 6. Auditioners of all ages should present a song of their choice from any Broadway musical. Bring sheet music, tape or CD for accompaniment.
