Mono County children eligible for early start

Mono County residents are eligible for California Early Start Program, which is for children up to 36 months old who have developmental delays or are at risk for such, and their families.

Eligibility for the program is based on a free evaluation and assessment, which indicates if there is a need in one or more of the following areas: Physical development, language development, non-verbal communication, fine and gross motor development, vision and hearing, social and emotional adaptation, health services, learning development and self-help skills. Services are provided based on each child's needs at no cost to the family. Referrals for the program are encouraged at any time by sources such as parents, physicians, childcare providers, friends, relatives, public health nurse and other professional agencies.
