Gamble to speak at bar

Judge Dave Gamble of the Ninth Judicial District Court will use his 21 years judicial perspective on Dec. 20 to explain the crucial points of evidence on which trial judges focus at "What You Forgot - Practice Pointers on Evidence.

Gamble is to address the Douglas Bar Association's noon luncheon in the Donegal Meeting Room at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Rules of evidence are designed to ensure the truth is found and that both parties receive a fair hearing. Gamble will examine the procedural aspects of evidence, including objections, relevance, other acts, character and habit evidence, hearsay, impeachment, expert testimony, and demonstrative evidence.

Gamble has served as district judge since 1986.

A graduate of Stanford University, he earned his law degree from Willamette University College of Law. Prior to his election to the bench, Gamble was in private practice in Carson City.

Lunch, including tax and tip, is $17.

The Douglas Bar's program is geared to lawyers but the general public is invited.

Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m.
