The R-C Morning Report

A review hearing to check to see if a woman who previously fell behind in her payments toward $143,000 in restitution is this morning in district court. Robin Ecklund was ordered to pay $750 a month on the money she embezzled from Marquis Title and Escrow Co. This morning may also serve as a review of the state parole and probation department, which Judge Michael Gibbons pointed out in July was having some difficulty keeping track of Ecklund and filing reports in a timely manner.

Well the second part of a big storm for the weekend didn't materialize, but neither did the predicted deep freeze. Today is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high of 38 degrees and a low of 20. There's a chance of snow showers peeking over the distant horizon that is next weekend. Don't bet the farm on them.

Minden received 2 inches of snow by end of business on Friday and cold temperatures have kept the Carson Valley a frosty white color since. That will start to melt off today as the snow levels head back into the mountains where they belong. Watch for icy sidewalks and parking lots on the shady sides of buildings, though. It won't be warm enough to melt those off for a bit.
