The state will unveil the results of the Highway 395 Corridor Study at a public meeting 4-7 p.m. today at the Cooperative Extension building in Gardnerville. The preferred alternative to be proposed this evening will be to make 395 between Carson and Minden a limited access highway with frontage roads running south to Muller Lane.

The National Weather Service is raising the red flag at 1 p.m. today as a big low pressure system rolls toward the coast, forcing high and dry winds out in front of it. Southwest winds will start at about 15-25 mph and gust up to 35 mph. Winds over the ridge will hit 50 mph in places. The high winds and low humidity will conspire to make for dangerous firefighting conditions.

Douglas County commissioners are meeting at Lake Tahoe starting at 1:30 p.m. today. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency staff and consultants will discuss collaborating with local governments in a community enhancement program that will take about an hour.
