Off-highway session Aug. 16

The U.S. Forest Service is seeking public comment on off-highway vehicle uses and routes located on the Bridgeport Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.

A travel management workshop will be held during the Bridgeport Regional Planning Advisory Committee meeting on 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at in the Bridgeport Memorial Hall.

The objective of this workshop is to develop a proposed action for route designation based on public participation by March 2008.

The public is invited to:

-- Review the OHV route inventory and designation process, and

-- Provide input on nonsystem roads and trails that should be included in the designated route system and those that should be closed to motorized-wheeled vehicles.

Bridgeport Ranger District personnel will be available at the workshop to discuss the 2005 Travel Management Rule, the route designation process, and assist the pubic with reviewing district maps in order to identify areas and routes that are most important to them.

The workshop is an opportunity to participate in the designation process of this route system.

The Bridgeport District Ranger anticipates that the Environmental Impact Statement and a Record of Decision will be completed by September 2009.
