The R-C Morning Report

It looks like Genoans will be seeking new management around the end of the year. Town board members voted Tuesday to complete the first year of an agreement with Douglas County for management services and then start looking for a manager. County Manager Dan Holler told the board that the county would have to cut back on its support for the town under the present agreement. Assistant to the county manager Lisa Granahan has been serving as town manager for the past seven months. Holler said that position has consumed three-quarters of her time. For their part, town board members praised Granahan's work and thanked Holler for his help.

A young bicyclist collided with a vehicle near Douglas High School around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The boy was transported for medical care after the accident, but reports from the scene indicated that he was not severly injured.

There is allegedly a small chance of thunderstorms starting 1 p.m. today and lasting through Thursday. High temperatures are also supposed to cool off into the lower 90s. Lows will also be dropping into the 50s over the weekend.

Four people were arrested at about 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday night after fireworks set off a 30 by 30 fire in East Valley. I don't know from the Interagency Dispatch Center if that is our East Valley or someone else's. But four arrests are still pretty impressive.

A 12-foot fence around Douglas High School's new track will have to clear the Minden Town Board tonight. Minden meets at 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall. There are several items on the agenda, including requests for the Minden Gateway Center at highways 395 and 88.
