An elite group of Northern Nevada youth golfers were selected to participate in the Reno-Tahoe Open Pro-Am Monday.
Douglas High golfer Shelby Louie was selected to play in the tournament and was paired with PGA pro Matt Hendrix of Greenville, N.C.
The duo placed third with a net of 56 after golfing a grueling 18 holes in record heat.
The event was sponsored by The First Tee of Northern Nevada, an organization that teaches young golfers life skills including honesty, respect, confidence and sportsmanship through the game of golf.
Last year, Valley golfers Troy Shields, Greg Coleman and Heather Henderson were selected to compete in the event.
