Forest Service seeks commercial bids for fuel wood sale

The Carson Ranger District is offering four commercial fuel-wood sale areas west of Carson City for public bid. These sales will assist in the removal of dead trees to improve Carson City viewshed, reduce future fire danger and provide for an enhanced environment for the 113,000 tree seedlings that will be planted in the spring.

The four commercial firewood sales will be offered by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Carson Ranger District, Carson City. The four sales range in volumes of 185 cords to 567 cords of firewood.

The areas the sales are lin are generally less than 30 percent slope. Because the wood needs to be removed before March and there is restricted entry on the road accessing the area, the firewood will be offered as commercial contract sales and not personal-use firewood permits.

Anyone is welcome to bid on these sales; you may bid on any or all of them. Bids must be received by 10 a.m. Sept. 27.
