DAYTON - Recently elected members of the advisory council at the Dayton Senior Center were installed Friday during a luncheon.

President is Ed Johnson; Chuck Stone is treasurer; Vivian Smith is secretary; members include Joyce Whinery, Mary Cross, Joanne Fabian and Tom Hass.

Members hold their respective positions for two years. Johnson and Whinery are in the second of their two-year terms.

"The purpose of the advisory council is to be the voice of all the seniors at the center," said Kelley Crossman, center director.

"The council will help me make decisions that affect them, on the center. They will make a suggestion and I go from there."

Crossman said decisions which affect items within the center itself, like getting new dishes as they recently did, can be made by her. Larger concerns she'll take to Lyon County Human Services.

"The council has a regular agenda they follow, with items of what's going on they work with every month."

The center serves 50-65 lunches Monday through Friday with the same number of seniors active daily at the center.

They also deliver 25-30 meals in the Dayton area through the Meals on Wheels program to homebound seniors.

The center is at 320 Old Dayton Valley Road, next to the library. For information, call 246-6210.
