Joyce S. 'Peggy' Benson

A service for Joyce S. "Peggy" Benson, 81, a Minden resident for the past 41 years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hilltop Community Church.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary.

Mrs. Benson died Nov. 26, 2005, at home. She was born March 25, 1924, in Ovid, Idaho, to William and Delma Sorenson.

She attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and the University of Nevada, Reno.

She married Matt Benson on June 27, 1943, in New York City.

Mrs. Benson was a teacher. She was a member of the Nevada Cattlewomen's Association and Hilltop Community Church. She was named Teacher of the Year.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 9, 1998 and brother Dale Sorenson.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Jill of Baker City, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law Julie and Cal Ward of Sheridan, Mont., and Nancy and Mike Alley of Gardnerville; sister, Bonnie Nield; brother and sister-in-law Deloy and Nadine Sorenson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Private Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Park.
