Lynn G. Breton

A memorial service for Lynn G. Breton, 83, a Minden resident, will be Jan. 8 at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Mortuary.

He died Nov. 18, 2005, at home. He was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Corning, Calif., to Melba and Vivian Breton.

Mr. Breton was retired. He was an industrial engineer, factory manager, dog kennel owner-operator and dog trainer. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Carson Valley Golf Course. He enjoyed fishing and, in his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting.

He was a lifetime member of VFW 75th Infantry Division. He was a 25-year Mason and belonged to Carson Valley Masonic Lodge 33.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in San Francisco in 1941 and attended basic training at Camp Callen, Calif. After basic, he was made platoon sergeant and remained to train recruits. He went overseas in 1944 aboard the USS Queen Mary and joined the 75th Infantry in 1945, was assigned to Co. G 290th Regt., and saw combat as a machine gun squad leader and served through the rest of World War II.

Among his survivors are his wife, Denise; son, Jim Breton of Sam Ramon, Calif.; daughters Jackie Franklin of Milpitas, Calif., Judy Breton of Sacramento, Joan Sullivan of San Francisco and Joyce Breton of Danville, Calif.; sister-in-law, Darcel Vieira; brother-in-law, David Vieira; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

At his request, a private burial will be at Cypress Lawn at Colma, Calif.
