A service for Austin William Cooper, 76, a Carson City resident for the past 14 years, will be at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
Mr. Cooper died Nov. 15, 2005, in Reno.
He was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Philadelphia to William Englund and Anna Mae Hand Cooper.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Temple City, Calif.
Mr. Cooper graduated from high school and obtained a bachelor's degree.
He married Tomiko Toyama in March 1952, in Tokyo.
Mr. Cooper was an air traffic controller and a JPL aerospace engineer.
He was a Lutheran.
He was a volunteer for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department.
He served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve. He retired from the Air Force.
He received an Occupation Medal Japan and a World War II Victory Medal, both while serving in the Army.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Snell.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; sons Rudy of Moorpark, Calif., Douglas of Riverside, Calif., and Gary of Ocean Springs, Miss.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 11 nieces; and seven nephews.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
