S.D. 'Digger' Paice

A celebration of life for S.D. "Digger" Paice, 64, a Carson City resident for the past 43 years, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fuji Park Pavilion. The family asks people bring memories and stories to share.

Mr. Paice died May 17, 2005, of heart failure while rafting with friends and family in Colorado.

He was born May 21, 1940, in Beaver, Utah, to Howard R. and Della Paice.

Mr. Paice retired from Carson City in 1990 after 26 years. He was a member of the National Pony Express Association since 1884. He enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Among his survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Mike Kuckenmeister and Cathy and Mike Kaplan; grandchildren Traci Kuckenmeister, Missy Kaplan, Bryan Kaplan and Kevin Kuckenmeister; mother; brothers Ray and Larry; sister, Judy Hendrix; companion, Judy Grenade; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
