Lions and fish and flowers and more - many things to do in the Carson area

I t's a busy weekend coming up, so look over these fun events.

Carson City Lions Club's 16th annual brunch is Saturday at the Senior Citizens Center.

All the money and donations raised from this event goes to a great program, the Meals on Wheels food service for seniors who receive hot meal delivered directly to their homes.

After you enjoy brunch, you can play free bingo with cash prizes. The cost is minimal and helps local seniors.

T he Annual Tommy's Fishing Derby at Davis Creek is Saturday. It is a free family event presented by the Carson City Elks Club.

You're invited to bring the children out watch them catch a fish and enjoy a free hot dog or hamburger.

Don't miss out on teaching your child how to catch the "Big One."

I just got back from Sonora, Calif., and flowers are blooming everywhere.

The Greenhouse Garden Center is going to have several classes this weekend, including one that will teach how to plant potted containers.

There will also have two other classes: "Let's Talk Tomatoes" and "Children's Gardening." All these classes are free as well as educational.

W ant to discover the Comstock this weekend? You can have a mountain dinner, hear music on the porch, and picnic on the lawn.

You can also explore the Silver City Cemetery or attend a historical ball.

All this fun will be in Virginia City during the Comstock Historic Preservation Weekend.

All proceeds go to the preservation of the Historic Fourth Ward School.

This will be a fun-filled historical weekend and family event that covers everyone's interest. So get on the cowboy boots and head on up to the Comstock.

Have a fun weekend!
