Grace Elinore Horgan

A funeral Mass for Grace Elinore Horgan will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright Street. Following the burial at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, a reception will be held at the Parish Hall.

A viewing will be held on from 4-7 p.m. Monday, at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street, Reno.

Grace Elinore Horgan, 89, a Reno resident, died March 23, 2005, at her home at Classic Residence. She was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Sparks to Frank and Angeline Cantlon.

She graduated from Sparks High School, then attended Dominican College of San Rafael for two years before returning to Reno and attending University of Nevada, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority, graduating in 1938.

She married E. J. "Jack" Horgan June 26, 1940

Mrs. Horgan and her husband owned the TH Ranch at Pyramid Lake. She was an avid photographer and an award-winning member of the Reno Color Foto Club. She was also an excellent horsewoman, a 50-plus year member of the Nevada White Hats and a veteran of 17 two-week horseback packing trips in the wilderness. Her interest in history was expressed by having retraced the complete Lewis and Clark "Voyage of Discovery" and visiting every known rendezvous site of the mountainmen. She also did all the photography for a slide show she and Jack produced on the Virginia City Water Works.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Drs. Vernon and Ed Cantlon and her sister Mary Margaret Horgan.

Among her survivors are her husband; sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Jan and Tom and Terry; son Pat and many nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
