Lake Tahoe woman killed in Squaw Valley ski accident

TAHOE CITY, Calif. - A Lake Tahoe-area woman reported missing during a ski outing was found dead early Saturday after apparently colliding with a tree, the Placer County Sheriff's Department said.

Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Langton identified the woman as 25-year-old Sherry Elizabeth Roessler.

Members of the Squaw Valley Ski Patrol found Roessler's body in a stand of trees near the Squaw Creek lift shortly before 7 a.m., Langton said.

Roessler's remains were taken to the Placer County morgue in Auburn for an autopsy.

Authorities said friends reported Roessler missing on Friday after she failed to return home from a day of skiing. Searches Friday afternoon and evening were unsuccessful.
