Carson City

Student musicians featured in concert

The Capital City Community Band will feature student musicians at their annual Children's Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center.

The concert is presented in celebration of Music In Our Schools Month, but audiences of all ages will enjoy the variety of music presented.

Air force, CIA vet speaks about piloting

International Footprint Association, a law enforcement support group, will meet Thursday in the banquet facility of the Casino Fandango.

Guest speaker is Frank Murray, a 29-year veteran of the Air Force and the CIA, speaking about his experiences as a Blackbird pilot.

GOP colleens celebrate with traditional dinner

The Carson City Republican Women will celebrate the "Wearin' of the Green" on Thursday at the Carson Nugget with a no-host bar and social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by a traditional St. Patrick's Day buffet dinner of corned beef and cabbage at 6:30.

The evening includes entertainment by local Irish dancers, a silent auction, a white elephant sale and a "Wheelbarrow of Spirits" special raffle.

Summer reading program to benefit from auction

The Churchill County Library and CC Communications Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association will hold a Teddy Bear Tea on April 16.

The benefit tea is to raise funds for the library's summer reading program for children.

The public is invited to donate merchandise for prizes or a financial gift. Checks should be made payable to Friends of the Library and mailed to Churchill County Library, 553 S. Main St., Fallon, NV 89406. Gifts can be dropped off at the library or be picked up.

Property taxes subject of radio hams' meeting

Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

Doug Sonnemann, Douglas County assessor, will speak on the subject of property taxes and their present and future impact on all residents of Nevada.

The public is invited.

Tea and dancing featured at concert

An afternoon concert/tea dance will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the Genoa Town Hall. The Tune Toppers will perform music for dancing and listening.

Admission is $5 at the door. Beer, wine, cokes and lemonade will be for sale. For information, call 782-2486.

Afternoon of bingo planned at center

Community Bingo at Young at Heart will be Sunday at the Douglas County Senior Center. Doors open at noon, and early-bird games begin at 1 p.m. There will be a progressive pot of $200 and 50 numbers. You must be 21 years of age to play. Call 783-6455 or 267-4897.

Office supplies to be auctioned off

Computer Corps will hold a sale and silent auction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 10079 Highway 50 E. in Mound House at Nevada CenterPoint Business Center.

Available will be quality office furniture, chairs, desks, tables, computer desks, file cabinets, modular workstations and Harley-Davidson memorabilia.

The fund-raiser is to support programs such as "Tech Camp for Kids" and "Every Home a Classroom."

Free hotdogs, drinks, snacks and raffle prizes will be available.

Potluck planned following ride

There will be a Ride and Drive sponsored by High Desert Horsemen Sunday. Ride begins at 10 a.m. from 7625 Cimmarron Trail in Stagecoach. A potluck lunch will follow.

Cost of the ride is $15 single and $25 family (this includes membership in HDH). HDH members ride in the event for free.
