Police in South Lake Tahoe and Douglas County will be enforcing bans on all alcoholic beverages at beaches for the night of July 4 in order to reduce alcohol related incidents such as fights and accidents.
Alcohol is prohibited every year at Nevada Beach from 10 a.m. to midnight on July 4, while alcohol is always prohibited at South Shore beaches on the California side.
At Nevada Beach, all vehicles and individuals with backpacks or ice chests entering the beach will be searched. The alcohol prohibition applies to the beach and picnic area - not to the campground.
At South Shore, authorities will be monitoring California beaches by foot patrol, bicycle and vehicle patrol.

Fireworks are prohibited in the South Lake Tahoe city limits, outside the city limits in El Dorado County on the Lake Tahoe Basin side and in Douglas County on the Nevada side. They are also illegal in the Carson, Eagle and Dayton valleys.
