Erda S. Kahn

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at the St. Theresa Catholic Church for Erda S. Kahn, 65, of South Lake Tahoe.

Mrs. Kahn died June 21, 2005, after a 15-year battle with cancer. She was born in Austria in 1940.

Displaced from Germany by the Russian Front, she was one of the millions held in the Dachau concentration camp after the war in 1945. In 1955, she emigrated to England, where she met her husband of 13 years. After living in Paris for five years, she emigrated to America, arriving in New York in 1968.

She worked in the hotel industry as a maid then as a housekeeper for about 10 years before becoming a casino worker at the Sahara Tahoe. Working her way up from waitress to coffee shop supervisor, she met many people, including celebrities.

After becoming a 21 dealer, she enjoyed a 30-year career at the Horizon Casino.

She is survived by her sons Aron of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Daniel of South Lake Tahoe.

Interment will follow at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
