The longest day of the year will occur on Monday, June 20.
June 20 is the first day of summer and it is also the Summer Solstice.
That is the date when there are exactly 24 hours of sunshine at the Arctic Circle.
Then, beginning on June 21, the days will slowly get shorter and shorter as we move back toward winter.
So, if you are a cold-weather person, take heart in the fact that darkness, cold, ice and snow will soon be on their way back.
