GILLENWATER SHINES
Cody Gillenwater posted a Junior Olympic qualifying time of 28.30 in his 50-yard leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay to highlight the Tigersharks' effort at a Zone 4 invitational short course meet held at an outdoor pool in South Tahoe.
Gillenwater, Jacob Branco, Tim Grunert and Ashton McIntosh teamed to win the 11-12 boys 200 free relay in 2:10.73. Gillenwater also won the 50 free in 29.38. Other top finishes for the Tigersharks included:
Girls 9-10 100 individual medley - Jessica Fahrenbruch, fourth, 1:21.01; Michaela Gillenwater, sixth, 1:23.02. Girls 10 and under 200 free relay (Gillenwater, Abigail Pittman, Shelby Noyer, Fahrenbruch) - fourth, 2:32.24. Boys 11-12 100 I.M. - Gillenwater, fourth, 1:16.17.
Boys 11-12 50 breaststroke - Gillenwater, third, 41.23. Girls 13-14 100 butterfly - Julie Asire, fourth, 1:12.58. Boys 11-12 100 fly - Gillenwater, third, 1:20.60. Girls 13-14 50 free - Asire, fifth, 28.18.
