One person was slightly injured Friday in a rollover accident at highways 395 and 50 in South Carson City.

According to Trooper Nick Nordyke, Baselite driver Gregory Fair, 44, of Sparks, said his brakes failed just before 1:30 p.m. as he was eastbound on Highway 50 approaching the 395 intersection.

"He just came through the red light," Nordyke said.

Fair was able to miss other vehicles, but when the rig hit the soft shoulder it tipped onto its side, spilling its construction supplies and injuring the passenger.

The unidentified passenger was taken by ambulance to Carson-Tahoe Hospital with minor injuries, Nordyke said.

Fair was cited with failure to use due care.

The wreck closed one northbound lane on Highway 395 for about two hours. Two lanes were closed for a short time as wreckers righted the rig.
