Joseph Edward Rutski

A graveside service for Joseph Edward Rutski, 87, a Carson City resident for the past two years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lone Mountain Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Rutski died July 11, 2005, in Carson City. He was born March 26, 1918, in Blossburg, Pa., to Frank E. and Eleanor Gilbalski Rutski.

He married Elvira Ulianich in 1951 in Triesta, Italy.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Hawthorne.

Mr. Rutski was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Older Members of Mineral County, Disabled American Veterans and the Catholic Church in Hawthorne. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling on TV.

He was preceded in death by his brother Myran and great-aunt Clara Gall.

Among his survivors are his wife of 54 years of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, John Michael and Cathy of Reno; daughter, Greta Pepper of Carson City; sisters Eleanor Griffit of Reno and Martha Rutski of New York; great-aunt Martha of New York; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nieces; and three nephews.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
