Frank H. Townsend

A funeral for Frank H. Townsend, 68, a Carson City resident for the past 16 years, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. Townsend died Jan. 30, 2005, at the Reno Veterans Hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Medford, Ore., to Jess Martin and Lulu Ellaleen Stennet Townsend.

He married Gladys Weinert June 18, 1994, in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in San Francisco.

He graduated from Ashland High School in 1954 and attended communications specialist school in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Townsend operated Gingerbread House Day Care.

He was a prize-winning artist and worked in paints, stained glass, lapidary and with wood.

He won honors for a 1964 Riviera he had restored.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Turkey.

He was preceded in death by sister, Margaret Powers.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; stepdaughter, Nancy Flores of Reno; stepson, Perry Williams of Panama City Beach, Fla.; stepchildren from previous marriages Pete and Helen of Oregon and Mimi and Pierre of California; lifelong friend Harold Silver of Medford; several step-grandchildren; and nephew, Allen Harkey of Fremont, Calif.

Private burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
