Carson boys ski sweeps two races

The Carson High boys ski team got off to a strong start on Thursday with two wins over Wooster and Damonte Ranch.


Competing in the giant slalom, Carson swept the top five places in beating Wooster 90-62 and swept the top seven places in defeating Damonte Ranch 90-25. Carson's girls split their first two races of the season as they were edged by Wooster 83-81, but beat Damonte Ranch 85-35.


The top five boys against Wooster were: Devon Anderson, 30.7, Caleb McCoy, 32.4, Chris Bessette, 33.7, Michael Aglietti, 34.8 and Chris Browne, 35.2. Mike Beasom also took eight (37.7) for Carson.


Anderson, McCoy, Bessette, Aglietti, Browne, J.P. McFarren (37.0) and Beasom swept the top seven places against Damonte Ranch. Carson also skied without one of its top skiers in Mats Boehnke.


Against Wooster for Carson's girls, Kacey Potter took third (39.0), Aysia Roberts and Krista Wisbar were fifth (41.0), Cassie Larson was ninth (47.9) and Yvette Hollett was 10th (49.2).


Against Damonte Ranch, Potter was first, Roberts and Wisbar were third, Larson was sixth and Hollett was seventh.


Carson will compete on Monday at Mt. Rose. The Senators will first face North Valleys in the slalom, with the girls race at 9 a.m. and the boys race at 10:30. Carson will then face Spanish Springs and Reed in the giant slalom with the girls race at 1 p.m. and the boys race at 2:30.
