Carson man hit by Dayton patrol car

DAYTON - A Carson City man received minor injuries Monday when he was struck by a Lyon County patrol vehicle as he crossed a Dayton street.

Robert Egelston, 61, was treated and released from Washoe Medical Center following the 7:37 p.m. accident at Pike and Main streets.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Egelston was walking with three others when a patrol car driven by Deputy Jeffrey Peebles made a right turn onto Pike Street from Main Street.

Egelston was struck by the front of the vehicle, said Trooper Nick Nordyke.

The accident is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office is conducting an administrative investigation.

Peebles was uninjured, and the vehicle was not damaged.
