Shirley Jean Ingram

A memorial service for Shirley Jean Ingram, 80, a Dayton resident, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army, Hayward Corps, Hayward, Calif.

Mrs. Ingram died Feb. 5, 2005, at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward. She was born June 12, 1924, to William Walter and Lulu Blanche Healea.

She married Denver Paul Ingram.

Mrs. Ingram worked as a registered nurse for 45 years before retiring.

She graduated from St. Anthony's Nursing School in Carroll, Iowa. In addition to private practice, she traveled to many secluded and rural areas as a public health nurse, worked as an industrial nurse and as a family-planning supervisor.

She participated in water ballet, enjoyed music, led marching bands in college and did baton twirling. She played the bass viola and enjoyed classical music and dancing to big-band music.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years in 2001; brothers Obe and Garrold; and sisters Margie Lewis, Connie Jenkins, Wanda Bell Healea, Violet Bernice Healea and Gwendolyn Tyward.

Among her survivors are her sons Craig Isaac and Steven Paul, grandchildren Nathan and Vanessa Ingram and sister Betty Jo Robinson.

She was interred at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Veterans Way, Fernley Monday.
