Hooft off to a strong start for Arizona State

Former Galena High star Joey Hooft is off to a strong start for Arizona State's baseball team.

Hooft, a 2001 Galena graduate, played the last three years at Miami before transferring this season for his senior year to Arizona State. The Sun Devils are off to a 4-3 start and Hooft has started all seven games either at third base, second base or as a designated hitter. Through seven games, Hooft is hitting .370 (10-for-27) with three doubles, three RBI and five runs scored.
