Hearing continued in Storey shooting

Another day of testimony is expected in the preliminary hearing of a Storey County woman facing a second-degree attempted murder charge.

Genevieve Caswell, 48, stands accused of shooting her husband, Angelo Caswell, in the back following a domestic dispute Oct. 11.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to Caswell's Jumping Frog Lane home in Mark Twain where they found Angelo, 48, lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to his back "screaming obscenities at officers," wrote Storey County Deputy John Michael Mendoza in his report.

Genevieve Caswell was on the porch with her hands in the air, allegedly screaming, "I shot my husband. Please get him some help," Mendoza wrote.

A .357 magnum revolver believed used in the shooting was found on the bedroom floor.

One spent casing and four cartridges remained in the gun.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred after the two argued about breaking up.

During Thursday's hearing four state witnesses took the stand. Another four are expected to testify when the case continues March 3.

Caswell remains free on $30,000 bail.
