Reid calls Bush budget 'irresponsible'

Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., said today President Bush's proposed budget is irresponsible and misleading.

"The president said (Tuesday) that his job is to confront problems and not pass them on to future congresses and future generations," said Reid, the Minority Leader in the U.S. Senate.

"But once again he is saying one thing and doing another."

Reid pointed out that Bush's proposed budget doesn't include the future cost of the Iraq war, the cost of privatizing Social Security or the cost of extending the tax cuts.

"He clearly intends to pass along trillions of dollars in new debt to the next generation with the $4.5 trillion in debt that his Social Security privatization plan would create, the future costs of the Iraq war and the true cost of his tax proposals.

"His budget is fiscally irresponsible, misleading and based on the wrong priorities," said Reid.
