Axel S. 'Pete' Petterson

A memorial service for Axel S. "Pete" Petterson, 84, a Carson City resident for the past 40 years, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Mr. Petterson died Dec. 17, 2005, at Mountain View Care Center. He was born Sept. 6, 1921, in North Dakota to Gustavus A. and Sigrid Fisketjon Petterson.

He married Patricia Farquhar in January 1953, in Las Vegas.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Pomona, Calif.

Mr. Petterson owned and operated Builders' Carpet Supply Inc. from 1965 until retiring in 2000. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge in Bellflower, Calif., and a member of the Carson City Bowling Association.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dec. 5, 1995; and brothers Carl and Albert in 1928 and Ernest in 1993.

Among his survivors are his son, Michael of Carson City; daughter, Karen Mancuso of Sacramento; sisters Ruth Watson of Bismark, N.D., Ruby Fisher of San Marcos, Calif., and Verna Strand of Helena, Mont.; brother Verner of Bismark; and grandchildren Kyle and Megan Petterson, both of Carson City.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
